Connecting women in public health and global health is essential for addressing the gender pay gap, promoting women's representation in leadership, fostering professional development, advocating for gender equity, and building a more inclusive and supportive work environment. Collaborative efforts among women can lead to positive changes that benefit individuals, organizations, and society as a whole.
Here are a few organizations/networks that are on my radar:
1. Black Ladies in Public Health
Black Ladies in Public Health (BLiPH) is a dynamic organization focusing on scholarship, service, self-care, and support to achieve equity in health and the public health profession for Black women and their communities. They provide a safe space for diverse experiences and professional roles, encouraging collaboration through partnerships, research studies, programs, conferences, advocacy, and workforce development to advance health outcomes and positive narratives for Black women in public health. BLiPH's mission is to connect, celebrate, and contribute to the health and lives of Black women, promoting sustainable pathways for equity in wealth and health through donations, sponsorships, and community engagement.

Sisters in Public Health is committed to connecting and empowering women in the field of public health through mentorship, self-care, diversity and inclusion, and professional development opportunities. Their mission is to create a safe space for women to empower, educate, and evolve in their careers, emphasizing values such as self-care, mentorship, scholarship, diversity and inclusion, women empowerment, and professional development. The organization offers membership levels (basic, premium, lifetime) with various benefits, including access to scholarships for public health students identifying as women, networking opportunities, and resources for personal and professional growth.

Women in Global Health leverages its women-led grassroots network of global chapters and members to mobilize, advocate, garner commitments, and hold leaders accountable, focusing on amplifying the voices of women, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds. They offer opportunities for career advancement, mentorship, networking, advocacy in global health decision-making, data analysis, policy monitoring, and influencing gender transformative agendas, all aimed at creating a world that values women as leaders and improves health outcomes for all genders. Through collaborative efforts, they aim to achieve greater progress on gender equality, stronger health systems, and better health for communities globally, contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals.

Women in Public Health is an organization dedicated to enhancing the career success of women in the health industry by providing access to job opportunities, mentoring for emerging leaders, and knowledge sharing on public health topics. They emphasize values such as commitment, excellence, diversity and inclusion, integrity, and altruism in their mission to create a supportive and empowering community for women in public health. The organization offers annual or lifetime membership options. They aim to connect members and facilitate personal and professional growth in the field through virtual networking events, monthly discussions with leaders, professionally led trainings, and social gatherings.
