Welcome to Let’s Talk Public Health!

If you’re new here, hello. If you’re coming back, it’s good to “see” you again.

It feels like there’s no getting around the fact that public health is under attack. At every turn, our advances are being undermined and undone. And I’d be lying if I said it isn’t getting to me. Is it getting to you? Every blow leaves me worn down and short of breath. I’ve been turning to a combination of sun salutations, meditation, pranayama, and working out to stay sane. I’ve also set limits on how much time I spend on social media apps each day to prevent excessive doomscrolling.
The 2026 Q1 & Q2 Status Report
I made some big promises at the end of last year, and I am working desperately to keep them. So what’s happened and what’s in the queue?
  1. 📅 Prepare to Pivot Webinar — Thank you to everyone who registered for and attended our Prepare to Pivot: The Potential Outlook for Public Health Communication in 2026 & Beyond on December 10, 2025. We shared our framework for pivoting public health communication - with a heavy emphasis on anticipating shifts and trends. View the recording, slides, and handout to learn what to prepare for and how to do so. I also hope you’ll join our next webinar on holistic and interconnected public health in June (it’ll be pre-recorded and available on-demand).
  2. 📅  Spring Meet-Up & Mixer — Thank you to everyone who registered for and attended our first quarterly public health social event. We met up at Mission Dupont in DC and connected on all things public health and health communication. I can’t wait to see you at the next one in July!
  3. 📧 LTPH Direct Newsletter — Our monthly newsletter is back as of this week! Make sure you’re signed up.
  4. 👩🏽‍🎓 2026 Fall Experiential Learning Program (ELP) Cohort — It’s that time again! Students and early-career professionals interested in gaining hands-on experience and mentorship should apply for the Fall 2026 ELP cohort by June 15, 2026.
  5. 🎓 2026 Health Communication Incubator — We’re launching an annual workforce development program designed to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world impact. Each year, we will convene a new cohort of professionals to tackle a specific, timely challenge in the health communication and marketing landscape. The 2026 focus is Measuring Effectiveness Beyond Vanity Metrics.
  6. 📱2026 Digital Media Trends for Health Communication Report — The data is in, and we have several suggestions for navigating the changing media/technology landscape. We’re getting the report up on the website for release in early June!

Thank you for joining us on this journey. If our free resources have been valuable to you, please consider supporting our work by ordering a pin from our Store, purchasing a digital download from our Academy, or buying us a cup of coffee.

We truly appreciate your support!

Sincerely,

Monique Thornton, MPH
